High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad welcomes Sri Lankan delegation for 1st Joint CPA Asia & South-East Asia Regional Conference

 A six-member delegation headed by Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, MP, Dr. W. M. Jagath Wickramaratne, arrived in Lahore on 06 February 2025 to attend the 1st Joint CPA Asia & South-East Asia Regional Conference hosted by Provincial Assembly of Punjab, Pakistan from 06 to 10 February 2025 in Lahore, Pakistan.  Members of the delegation included Deputy Minister of National Integration, MP, Mohamed Mulaffer Mohamed Muneer; Members of Parliament, Tushari Jayasinghe, Ilankumaran Karunanathan, Janath Chithral Fernando and Secretary-General of the Parliament, Kushani Rohanadeera,

Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Islamabad, A.Christy Ruban, along with Member of the Provincial Assembly, Sardar Mohamad Ahmed Khan Leghari and protocol officials of the Punjab Assembly, welcomed the delegation at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore.

This historic event marks the first-ever joint conference of two CPA Regions, i.e. Asia and South-East Asia, providing a unique platform to foster meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and shared learning among member states of both regions under the auspices of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA). Held under the central theme "Parliamentary Strategies for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Future in Asia and South-East Asia", the conference brought together speakers, parliamentarians, and experts to deliberate on contemporary regional challenges and explore opportunities for strengthening democratic governance and regional integration.
