
Governor of the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud received Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ameer Ajwad at the Governorate of the Eastern Province in Dammam on 21 May 2025.
While welcoming Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Governor expressed his appreciation for the contribution made by the Sri Lankan community over the years to the development of the Kingdom. Ambassador Ameer Ajwad extended his gratitude to the Governor for hosting more than 30% of the Sri Lankan community in the Eastern Province. Ambassador also discussed areas of bilateral interest and matters related to the welfare of a large number of Sri Lankan community living and working in the Eastern Province. Ambassador took the opportunity to place on record his sincere appreciation to the Eastern Province Asharqiya Chamber of Commerce for their unstinted support to the Sri Lanka Embassy by hosting a number of private sector networking sessions between different Sri Lanka trade delegations and their Saudi counterparts at the Chamber premises for last few months.
Ambassador Ameer Ajwad presented to the Governor a memento of a logo issued by both countries to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia.
The world’s largest oil company, Saudi Aramco and one of the world’s largest industrial complexes which support petrochemical and manufacturing industries, are based in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The Province is currently undergoing significant transformation under Vision 2030 with numerous projects aimed at diversifying the economy, enhancing infrastructure, and promoting tourism.
