Ambassador-designate of Sri Lanka to Bahrain assumes duties

Ambassador-designate of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Shanika Dissanayake assumed duties at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bahrain on 16 March 2025.

Addressing the staff of the Embassy following the assumption of duties, Ambassador-designate Shanika Dissanayake emphasized the importance of elevating the dynamic bilateral ties between Sri Lanka and Bahrain by fostering greater economic cooperation, enhancing trade and investment opportunities, and expanding collaboration in key sectors of mutual interest.

The Ambassador-designate also highlighted the importance of adopting a cohesive and forward-thinking approach within the Mission, ensuring the seamless delivery of consular services. She underscored the well-being of the Sri Lankan community in Bahrain as a top priority and encouraged the team to work collectively towards strengthening Sri Lanka’s footprint in Bahrain while advancing the shared interests of both countries.

A career Sri Lanka Foreign Service officer, Ambassador-designate Dissanayake served as Additional Secretary for Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka prior to undertaking her assignment in Bahrain.
