Ambassador Ameer Ajwad Participates in the Launch of KSrelief Plans & Programme for 2026

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ameer Ajwad participated in the official launch of Plans and Programme of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) for 2026. Major donors and partners of KSrelief were also honoured during the event.

Ambassador Ajwad met with Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, Advisor to the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief, and congratulated Saudi Arabia’s leadership on this outstanding global recognition—being ranked second worldwide and first in the Arab world for providing humanitarian and relief aid through its humanitarian assistance arm, KSrelief. Ambassador also thanked KSrelief’s unwavering support to Sri Lanka through a range of humanitarian and relief projects implemented over the years including free eye surgeries for needy people as well as the donation of dates for breaking fast during Ramadhan in Sri Lanka.

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has carried out 28 humanitarian projects worth USD $ 15,425,024 in Sri Lanka since 2005. In the year 2025 alone, KSrelief implemented five (5) projects in Sri Lanka with a total cost of USD 401,075.  The Centre has allocated a total cost of USD 78,582 for the Year 2026.

KSrelief’s plans for 2026 includes 113 projects across 44 countries in partnership with 11 Saudi non-profit organizations. This is set to benefit over 12 million people at a cost of SR400 million. The Centre also launched the 2026 volunteer programs plan, which includes 309 programs in 42 countries at a cost of SR200 million.

The ceremony also marked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ 2026 gift of dates, targeting more than 13 million beneficiaries in 73 countries, with a total weight of 17,868 tons and a cost of SR123 million.

The launch demonstrates Kingdoms’s global humanitarian vision and its forward-looking plans for 2026, focusing on alleviating human suffering, supporting vulnerable communities, and strengthening resilience through targeted relief and development initiatives.
