Sri Lanka’s 78th National Independence Day, Sri Lankan Flags were adorned in iconic landmarks in Victoria

To mark Sri Lanka’s 78th National Independence Day, Sri Lankan flag was proudly hosted at Federation Square on 04th February 2026, an iconic landmark located in the heart of the Melbourne city.

Additionally, Sri Lankan flags were adorned at several locations in Melbourne, including Bunjil Place in the City of Casey and Harmony Square in Greater Dandenong City Council. During the ceremony held at the city of Casey, the flag was hoisted by Mayor, Cr Stefan Koomen JP along with Sri Lankan community members.

Flag hoisting ceremony at Harmony Square was attended by the Mayor Cr Sophie Tan, city of Greater Dandenong along with community members.

The flag hoisting ceremonies at Federation Square, Harmony Square in Dandenong and Bunjil Place in the City of Casey were coordinated and organized by the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne.

The City of Casey and Greater Dandenong are home to one of Victoria's largest and fastest-growing Sri Lankan communities, with over 18,000 residents in the City of Casey.
