The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Philippines, together with the local distributors of Ceylon Tea premium brands — Dilmah, Basilur, and George Steuarts, participated at the International Bazaar 2025 held on 16 November 2025 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila (WTCMM) in the Philippines.
The Sri Lanka stalls were designed to showcase the tourism and unique cultural attributes of the country and world-renowned products such as Ceylon Tea, spices, wellness products, porcelain, and handicrafts. They were formally opened by the lighting of the traditional oil lamp by the Chief Guest, Secretary (Minister) of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, and the Guest of Honor, Member and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the Philippines (Congress), Rachel Arenas; Chair of the Spouses of the Heads of Mission (SHOM), Arkadiusz Tracz; and President of International Bazaar Foundation Inc. (IBF), Betty L. Ang.
A special feature of this year’s Embassy participation was the promotion of Samahan and a special fare to Sri Lanka by SriLankan Airlines. The Embassy also focused on networking opportunities in terms of B2B, and visitors were given the opportunity to enjoy a freshly brewed cup of Ceylon Tea.
A total of 42 Embassies with 178 stalls participated, exhibiting crafts and various products from different countries.
The International Bazaar, with this year’s theme “Shop Global Help Local,” is an annual event organized by the International Bazaar Foundation, Inc. (IBF) in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Diplomatic and Consular Corps of the Philippines, and the Spouses of the Heads of Mission (SHOM). It is also a fund-raising event to support the livelihood and scholarship projects of IBF and SHOM for beneficiaries across the Philippines.⠀
