
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in collaboration with the Sri Lankan Engineering Society in Bahrain (SLES) and the American Mission Hospital, successfully organized the second Free Medical Camp for Sri Lankan nationals on 21 November 2025 at the Embassy premises.
This initiative, launched at the request of the Ambassador, is part of the Embassy’s ongoing commitment to promoting the health and well-being of the Sri Lankan community in Bahrain by providing accessible and preventive healthcare services.
More than 100 Sri Lankans benefitted from the medical camp, receiving a wide range of essential multi-diagnostic screenings, including height and weight measurements, BMI evaluations, blood pressure checks, and blood sugar tests. Participants also received free consultations in Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, and Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) care, provided by medical professionals from the King Hamad American Mission Hospital.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Shanika Dissanayake expressed her appreciation to the Sri Lankan Engineering Society in Bahrain and the American Mission Hospital for their invaluable partnership and continued support in serving the Sri Lankan Community. She emphasized that the initiative stands as an inspiring example of Sri Lankan teamwork in Bahrain. She also highlighted an important milestone to be achieved soon through the joint efforts of the Embassy and the King Hamad American Mission Hospital where for the first time a Sri Lankan-manufactured medical device will be trialled at the hospital. She described this development as a source of pride for Sri Lankans in Bahrain.
Mr. Nilanga Gunawardena, President of the Sri Lankan Engineering Society in Bahrain, underscored the importance of regular health awareness among the expatriate community. Dr. Ranjith Peter, representing the American Mission Hospital, reaffirmed the hospital’s continued commitment to supporting the well-being of Sri Lankans living in the Kingdom and praised the invaluable Sri Lankan teamwork behind this noble initiative. A memento in appreciation of the joint collaboration was handed over to the Representative of the American Mission Hospital by the President of the Sri Lankan Engineering Society Mr. Nilanga Gunawardena.
A traditional Sri Lankan breakfast was organized for all attendees by the Embassy.
