
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ameer Ajwad met with the members of the Executive Community of the Sri Lankan Cultural Club in Dammam on 3 October 2025 to explore avenues for further enhancing consular and labour welfare services provided by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom. The meeting also served as a platform to discuss the future plans and activities of the Cultural Club.
During the meeting, the Ambassador expressed his appreciation to the Sri Lankan Cultural Club in Dammam for their unwavering support in facilitating the monthly consular and labour welfare services conducted by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Eastern Province. Ambassador Ajwad emphasized the Government of Sri Lanka’s commitment to people-centric governance and its migrant worker-friendly welfare initiatives. He briefed the attendees on several outreach programmes currently being implemented by the Embassy in Riyadh, including the fortnightly signature initiative “Talk to Your Ambassador,” which aims to strengthen engagement with Sri Lankan migrant workers across the Kingdom. He also shared updates on the recently announced benefits by the Government of Sri Lanka, designed to enhance the welfare of Sri Lankan migrant workers and their families.
The Ambassador also engaged with Sri Lankan migrant workers who were present to avail themselves of the services provided by the Embassy during the mobile consular and welfare programme.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh has been consistently conducting monthly mobile consular and labour welfare services in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for several years. The Sri Lanka Cultural Club in Dammam has played a commendable role by providing voluntary support during these mobile service initiatives.
