Sri Lankan Community Forum launches in the Jubail region of Saudi Arabia

As part of the outreach initiative by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh to engage with Sri Lankan expatriates residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ameer Ajwad officially launched the Sri Lankan Migrant Worker Community Forum in the Jubail region on 3 October 2025. The forum aims to facilitate access to consular, labour, and community welfare services, while also promoting cultural and recreational activities among the Sri Lankan community in Jubail.

Inaugurating the Sri Lankan Jubail Community Forum during the “Katharaka Sathsara” event organized by the forum, Ambassador Ajwad underscored the importance of maintaining a close and continuous connection between the Sri Lankan community and the Embassy. He highlighted the Government of Sri Lanka’s commitment to people-centric and migrant-friendly governance, and outlined several outreach initiatives led by the Embassy in Riyadh to support Sri Lankan migrant workers across the Kingdom. Among these is the Embassy’s flagship fortnightly programme, “Talk to Your Ambassador,” designed to foster direct engagement and address community concerns. Ambassador also shared details of the benefits recently announced by the Government of Sri Lanka for the welfare of migrant workers and their families.

President of the Sri Lanka Community Club in Jubail, Lalith Kumara, expressed his appreciation to the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh for initiating the community forum in the Jubail region. He emphasized the significance of the initiative in fostering a closer connection between the Embassy and Sri Lankan expatriates residing in distant areas of the Kingdom, away from the Embassy in Riyadh.

Ambassador presented trophies to the winning Sri Lankan community teams at the cricket tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Community Club in Jubail.

The Sri Lanka Embassy’s Employment & Welfare and Consular Mobile Service team—comprising Counsellor (Employment & Welfare) Mangala Randeniya, Consular Attaché Chamara Perera, and Accounts Officer Kasun Wijesinghe—who conduct the monthly mobile consular service programme in Dammam in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom, also participated in the event. Owner of the Abdullah Al Ahmari Group, Abdullah Al Ahmari also attended the event as a special guest.

A large number of Sri Lankan community members residing in Jubail and neighboring areas actively participated in the event, reflecting strong community engagement and support for the newly launched forum and its initiatives.
