As a part of the Embassy’s initiative to recognize long-served Sri Lankan migrant workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ameer Ajwad felicitated P. V. Charitha Devaka Perera of Almarai, a leading multinational dairy company in the Kingdom.
Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador Ameer Ajwad emphasized that Sri Lankan migrant workers in Saudi Arabia are a vital pillar of the bilateral relationship between Sri Lanka and the Kingdom. He acknowledged their significant contributions across various sectors to the development of the host country, as well as to Sri Lanka’s economy through remittances. The Ambassador also extended his heartfelt appreciation to the management of Saudi Almarai Company—which employs over 7,000 Sri Lankan migrant workers—for the trust and confidence placed in Sri Lankan talent and workforce.
Charitha Perera has served as the Financial Controller at Almarai Company, playing a pivotal role in strengthening the company’s financial management and operational excellence. He has been a valued member of the Sri Lankan migrant worker community in the Kingdom, exemplifying the dedication, professionalism, and resilience that characterize Sri Lankan expatriates.
Ambassador Ameer Ajwad presented a memento to Perera in recognition of his longstanding service and embodiment of Sri Lankan excellence in the Kingdom. The ceremony was part of the Embassy’s ongoing tradition, initiated in July 2024, to recognize senior Sri Lankan migrant workers who have made exceptional contributions to both their home and host countries over the decades. Since the launch of this initiative, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Riyadh has felicitated four distinguished Sri Lankan professionals from various fields.
