Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ameer Ajwad was received by the Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh at the Ministry headquarters in Riyadh on 04 July 2025.
While extending a warm welcome to Ambassador Ajwad to the Kingdom, Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh recalled the longstanding friendly relations that happily exist between Sri Lanka and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He further emphasized enhancing bilateral cultural cooperation between the two countries. While appreciating Saudi Arabia’s leading role and initiatives to promote global peace and prosperity, Ambassador Ajwad expressed gratitude to the Kingdom’s unstinted support for Sri Lanka’s development projects and humanitarian assistance programs. Ambassador also expressed appreciation for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' programs in Sri Lanka such as distribution of dates during Ramadan and “Guests of God’ program for Hajj.
Ambassador was accompanied by Minister/ Head of Chancery of the Embassy, Mohammed Anas.
