Sri Lanka is participating at the Middle East Rubber and Tyre Expo 2025, which is being held from 17 to 19 June 2025 at Expo Centre Sharjah, UAE. Ten (10) Sri Lankan companies are showcasing their products and capabilities under the Sri Lanka Pavilion, which has been organized by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) with the assistance of the Consulate General of Sri Lanka to Dubai and Northern Emirates.
The Expo was inaugurated by Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Abdallah Sultan Al Owais together with Expo officials and Consul General of Sri Lanka to Dubai and Northern Emirates Alexi Gunasekera. The event serves as an industry gathering for professionals in the rubber and tyre sectors, offering opportunities for networking, product displays, and technical sessions on current innovations and trends.
Prior to the opening of the Expo, Consul General, together with Senior Deputy Director of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI), U.P. Jayasinghe and Deputy Director – Industrial Products Division of EDB, P.L. Susantha Premarathna had the opportunity to meet with the Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry, along with senior Chamber officials. The discussion focused on exploring broader avenues of collaboration between Sri Lanka and Sharjah, beyond the rubber sector — including investment, trade facilitation, industrial cooperation, and future business engagement initiatives.
On the second day of the Expo, Ambassador-designate of Sri Lanka to the UAE, Arusha Cooray visited the Sri Lanka Pavilion and held discussions with the participating companies. She was briefed on the product offerings and market interests of the exhibitors and emphasized the importance of leveraging events of this nature to increase Sri Lanka’s visibility in regional markets.
The Middle East Rubber and Tyre Expo provides Sri Lankan companies with an opportunity to engage with potential buyers, distributors, and manufacturers in the UAE and Gulf region. Sri Lanka’s participation is intended to help companies explore market linkages, understand regional demand, and promote the country’s rubber industry capabilities in the Middle East.
