
The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Ottawa recently facilitated the expansion of Sri Lankan products imported into Canadian market by a Toronto-based importer and supplier of food items. The products that were imported by Mr. Goudas, which has been serving the region for over 50 years, include a new brand of Ceylon tea, coconut cream, coconut oil, and dairy products packed in Sri Lanka.
High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Canada U. L. Mohammed Jauhar participated at the event on 25 April 2025, to mark the launch of the expanded Sri Lankan products into the Canadian market. The High Commissioner thanked the company’s Co-Presidents Ramesh Jagarajah and Sarweswaran, who are of Sri Lankan origin, for their efforts to import more Sri Lankan products and expressed optimism about the potential increase in the volume and varieties of such products.
The Co-Presidents of the company said that they were pleased with the support extended by the High Commission and echoed the optimism expressed by the High Commissioner. They thanked the High Commissioner for taking part at the launch and took him on a tour of the company’s packaging and distribution facilities.
The event was also attended by Counsellor of the High Commission Kumarasamy Kiritharan and the Supply Chain Manager of the company Rathnakumar Puvindran.
