
The Sinhala & Tamil New Year Festival was celebrated on 03.05.2025, by the Sri Lankan community in Poland in the cosmopolitan city of Poznań, in west Poland, bringing together over 150 participants, including Polish friends. The event, organized by the Sri Lanka Community Association in Poland (SLCAPL), was a vibrant showcase of the Sri Lankan traditions, fostering cultural exchange and strengthening bonds among attendees. The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Poland extended its support to the event.
The festival commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp, ensuing with a traditional dance performance.
The message of the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Poland, Priyangika Dharmasena was read out by the President of the SLCAPL, which conveyed the significance of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year that brings in harmony and unity among all communities, amidst a joyous atmosphere of comradeship, serving as an extension of Sri Lanka’s vibrant cultural heritage and keeping alive, beliefs beyond the Motherland.
The festival also featured over twenty-five ‘Avurudu’ games and delicious traditional Sri Lankan sweetmeats.
