The Sri Lanka Consulate in Karachi, together with the Sri Lankan community in Sindh province, Pakistan, celebrated the Sinhala & Tamil New Year on 20 April 2025 at the IQRA University premises in Karachi, with the participation of Sri Lankan nationals and Pakistani guests.
The event featured traditional Avurudu games, authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, gift distribution to game- winners, a raffle draw and a vibrant musical evening.
In his address, Consul General Jagath Abeywarna emphasized that gatherings of similar nature not only strengthen bonds within the Sri Lankan community abroad but also serve as a platform to promote friendship and cultural understanding between Sri Lanka and Pakistan through the sharing of traditions and heritage.
