Europe & North America Division
The Europe and North America Division is responsible for maintaining Sri Lanka’s bilateral relations with 51 countries in Europe and North America regions.
The Division is responsible in fostering Sri Lanka’s interests in the Europe & North America regions by developing strategic partnerships, formulating policies, facilitating diplomatic dialogue and advancing bilateral cooperation in political economic (trade, investment, tourism), science and technology, culture, education and development, among several other areas.
The countries of Europe, covered by the Division include 27 European Union (EU) member States: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czeck Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Protugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and non EU member States in Europe: Albania, Andora, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus Bosnia & Herzegovina, Georgia, Holy See, Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Norway, Russian Federation, Serbia, San Marino, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and United Kingdom. The Europe and North America Division also maintains Sri Lanka’s bilateral relations with the United States of America and Canada.
The Division is also entrusted with the task of maintaining Sri Lanka’s relations with the European Union (EU) and the Commonwealth of Nations.
The Division works closely with 15 Sri Lankan Resident Missions and 3 Consulates in these regions.
