Amidst freezing temperatures and a snow covered city, the Sri Lanka High Commission in Ottawa together with the Sri Lankan community and well-wishers celebrated the 65th Anniversary of the National Day on 10th February at the prestigious National Library & Archives Auditorium.
Sri Lanka's 65th Independence Day was celebrated in Singapore on February 4, 2013 with a ceremony in the morning at the official residence of the High Commissioner Her Excellency Mrs Ferial Ismail Ashraff and a reception in the evening at the Hilton.
65th Anniversary of Independence and the 1st event of a series of Events to celebrate 60 years of Diplomatic Relations conducted as one event.
Having regard to the substantial progress achieved by Sri Lanka in dealing with a variety of complex challenges since the advent of peace and also in view of the clearly formulated rules governing the scope of CMAG’s role, there is absolutely no justification for introducing any issues relating to Sri Lanka into the agenda of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group, Professor G.L. Peiris, Minister of External Affairs, said in Dhaka on Thursday.
