The Singapore Sri Lanka Business Association (SLBA) donates medical supplies worth 21,717.00 SGD, to the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka  

The Singapore Sri Lanka Business Association (SLBA) donated medical supplies worth 21,717.00 Singapore Dollars (approximately 3.5 million. LKR) procured utilising funds raised through a public fundraising campaign launched by the SLBA to raise 100,000 Singapore Dollars.

The SLBA has partnered with Ray of Hope (ROH), a registered crowdfunding platform in Singapore, in order to help raise funds that will be utilised to procure much needed Covid related medical equipment that will help save lives in Sri Lanka. In addition, Lanka Lions Cricket Club in Singapore and Pimp My Tuk Tuk (PMTT) have also partnered the SLBA to support the fundraising efforts.

The initial consignment of medical supplies was handed over to the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Singapore Sashikala Premawardhane, by the President of the Singapore – Sri Lanka Business Association Lakshanthi Fernando, on 24 June, 2021. Vice President of the SLBA  Senaka Tiranagama, and Treasurer of the SLBA Lal Gunasinghe,  and several Executive Committee members of the SLBA, and officials of the High Commission of Sri Lanka were present at the event.

This initial consignment of medical supplies consists of six (6) 1 CAMI Askir 36BR Suction Machines -, seven (7) Philips Respironics EverFlo 5L Oxygen Concentrators, and three (3) Invacare Platinum 9L Oxygen Concentrators.

The High Commission facilitated the airlift of the consignment of medical supplies to Sri Lanka through Sri Lankan Airlines on gratis basis via flight UL 1429 which departed Singapore on 01 July, 2021.

The High Commission of Sri Lanka wishes to express sincere appreciation to all the donors who have contributed to the public fund-raising initiative of the Singapore Sri Lanka Business Association (SLBA), Chairman Sri Lankan Airlines Ashok Pathirage, who readily agreed to airlift the cargo on gratis basis, Regional Manager of Sri Lankan Airlines Mohan Meegolle, Foreign Ministry Sri Lanka, Ministry of Health Sri Lanka for the excellent support given towards this initiative.
