Sri Lankan Community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia holds a candlelight Vigil in memory of victims of Easter Sunday terror attacks in Sri Lanka

The Sri Lankan community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia organized a candlelight vigil at the Embassy premises on 27th April 2019 in commemoration of victims of the tragic Easter Sunday terror attacks in Sri Lanka.

A large number of Sri Lankans living in the Kingdom belonging to all faiths, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Azmi Thassim and the Embassy Staff took part in this vigil.

Prayer sessions were also conducted in Buddhist, Hindu, Islam and Christian faiths to invoke blessings for those who were killed and early recovery of those who were wounded in this tragic incident.

The Embassy also opened a Book of Condolence on 24th and 25th April at the premises. More than 60 Ambassadors, Diplomatic Officials representing their respective countries and the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, KSA placed their condolence messages in the condolence book. They expressed their sympathy and solidarity toward the victims and their readiness to provide assistance to Sri Lanka at this needed hour.

While issuing messages of condolences, the Custodian of two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud have condemned this act of terrorism and offered condolences to the President, the families of the victims and the people of Sri Lanka and wished the injured a speedy recovery. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have also strongly condemned this act of terrorism and expressed their condolences to the people of Sri Lanka.
