Sri Lanka – Oman Maritime Cooperation to be enhanced

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Sultanate of Oman Ameer Ajwad met with Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of the Sultanate of Oman Eng. Saeed bin Hamoud Al-Maawali and discussed the areas of mutual interest between the two countries. They also explored new areas for bilateral cooperation in Ports and Shipping as well as Information and Communication Technology. As the two countries sharing the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka and Oman have great potential for cooperation in the maritime sector and both the Minister and the Ambassador agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in this sector.

Ambassador Ameer Ajwad presented Minister Al-Maawali a memorial logo that was issued to mark the 40th anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Sri Lanka and the Sultanate of Oman which is being commemorated this year.

Undersecretary of the Ministry for Transport Eng. Salim bin Mohammed al-Nuaimi and First Secretary Dilini Abeysekara of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Muscat participated in the meeting.
