The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore commemorated the 62nd Anniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka with a religious ceremony at the Official Residence of the High Commissioner followed by an evening reception at the Shangri –La Hotel on 4 February 2010.

Independence Commemoration in Canada
The 62nd Anniversary of Independence was commemorated at the residence of the High Commissioner HE Ms. Chitranganee Wagiswara on 4th February 2010. The messages of HE the President, Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs were read by the High Commission staff followed by special religious observances by the Buddhist, Hindu, Islam and Christian clergy who invoked blessings for the peace and prosperity of Sri Lanka and reiterated the need for the Diaspora to put aside all differences and to unite in rebuilding their motherland. Following the official ceremony an alms giving was offered to the priests and other visitors.
Celebration of Sri Lankan National Day in Poland
National Day, which commemorates the 62nd Anniversary of Independence, was celebrated at the Embassy on Thursday 04th February 2010 amongst Sri Lankans and their family members who were invited to the function. The Programme commenced with hoisting of the National Flag and singing of the National Anthem. Messages of H.E. the President, Hon. Prime Minister and Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs where read after the lighting of the traditional oil lamp. Multi religious observances and observing two minutes silence for the people who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland, were also observed.
Sri lankaÂ’s Independence Celebrated by Sri Lanka Embassy in Bangkok
The small Sri Lankan community in Thailand gathered at the official residence of Prof. J. B. Disanayaka, ambassador to Thailand, Cambodia and Laos to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the country’s independence.

A flag hoisting ceremony was conducted at the Embassy Premises with the participation of the Sri Lanka community in Nepal under the guidance of H.E. Sri Lanka Embassy in Seoul celebrates Independence and National Day
The celebration of the Independence Day and National Day commenced at the Residence of Sri Lanka Embassy on 04th February with the flag hoisting ceremony attended by a cross section of Korean and Sri Lankan distinguished personalities, representatives of Sri Lankan migrant workers and Sri Lankan students. A multi religious rituals with the participation of the clergy of Buddhist, Hindu, Christian and Islamic were observed and the National Day Messages of H.E. the President, Hon. Prime Minister and the Hon. Foreign Minister were read.
