Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Sultanate of Oman O. L. Ameer Ajwad paid a courtesy call on, the new Minister for Economy of the Sultanate of Oman Dr. Said Al Saqri on 24 September 2020.
Ambassador Ameer Ajwad expressed his greetings to Dr. Saqri on his appointment to the new portfolio as the Minister of Economy of the Sultanate of Oman and extended his best wishes for the Minister’s successful tenure.
Ambassador Ameer Ajwad and Dr. Saqri discussed on a range of potential areas for economic collaboration between Sri Lanka and Oman and agreed to work closely to identify feasible areas for economic collaboration for the mutual benefits of the peoples of both countries. Ambassador Ameer Ajwad highlighted that since both countries have now embarked on economic diversification drive, there is a huge potential for economic collaboration between the two counties in different areas of mutual interest. They agreed to continue to engage in identifying ways and means to further enhance bilateral economic cooperation between the two friendly nations in the years ahead.
The new Ministry of Economy of Oman has recently absorbed the functions of the Secretariat General of the Supreme Council for Planning which includes the power and authority to develop the strategies and policies that are required to achieve sustainable development and economic diversity in the Sultanate of Oman.Embassy of Sri Lanka
