Promotion on Tea and Tourism

IMG_5876

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Stockholm in collaboration with the Tea Board of Sri Lanka conducted an event covering promotion of Ceylon tea and tourism in Sri Lanka combined, at the Embassy premises on 30th March 2017. The event was held particularly inviting the members of the International Women’s Club of Stockholm (IWC), an Association established in 1955  that brings together distinguished local and expatriate ladies  living in Stockholm providing opportunities to interact and share each other’s culture and interests.

The programme lined up for the event included presentations made by the Honorary Tea Commissioner for Sri Lanka in Sweden Ms. Margaretha Haglind, a presentation made by a Tour Operator Mr. Christian Magnusson, giving a Swedish perspective of progress made by Sri Lanka in the tourism sector and a young Swedish national of Sri Lankan origin Ms. Annelie Pathirana, giving an overview of the “must see places” in Sri Lanka and reasoning out why a visit to Sri Lanka is considered worthwhile.

Rendition of songs delivered by Sri Lankans living in Sweden added vigor and vitality to the event and kept the IWC members entertained throughout the event.

Variety of tea, provided by the Ceylon Tea Board was on display on the occasion and the guests partook with a delightful spread of savories, sweets and cakes that complemented with none other than a cup of freshly brewed ‘Celyon Tea’.  Demonstration on making hoppers at the venue added an element of amusement to the event.

Number of enquiries made by the guests about Sri Lanka was an indication of their keen interest to visit Sri Lanka.

At the conclusion of the event, the participants were presented with samples of ‘Ceylon Tea’ provided by Sri Lanka Tea Board and promotional material on tourism received from the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, for the guests to reminisce about the afternoon tea party held at the Embassy of Sri Lanka, and thereby encouraging the guests to consider Sri Lanka as their next travel destination.
